On October 11, Sources claimed that US Airport websites were targeted by the Russian hackers. It was claimed that they were speaking Russians. However the websites were restored after few hours.

US Media claims that the hackers were pro-kremlin attackers who were speaking in Russians. According to airport officials, No flights were affected due to this cyber attack but it caused problems for website users to retrieve information from US airport websites. These websites were targeted by Russian hackers called Killnet group. Hackers used distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack to make website non-functional. Distributed denial of service attack is an attempt to increase traffic flow towards a website thus making it crash under the traffic load.
The airports include New York’s LaGuardia, Chicago’s O’Hare and Los Angeles. However the los Angeles airport website did not suffer compared to others. US authorities are monitoring the issue in affected airports. This is not the first time that US airports were targeted by the Russian hackers. Public response on social media was outrageous. They were blaming US government for this security lapse in airports. If there was adequate measures taken, US airports websites will not be targeted by Russian hackers.
